Charlestown Township |
Historical Commission/ HARB met on Tuesday, May 17th at the GVMS. Those members present were Dale Frens, Nancy Long, John Pittock, Rosemary Philips, Fran Rodgers, Cindy Thompson and Dan Wright. Melissa Dicranian, Sheila Klement and Michael Richter were absent. Jane Dorchester was also present.
Chairperson Rosemary Philips spoke about plans to relocate the Charlestown Township office to a site on General Warren Boulevard and gave members a printout of the proposed office layout. This move will probably happen early next year.
Jane Dorchester was introduced to give a presentation of the Charlestown Township Atlas Map of Historic Resources. This has been a five year County project and Ms. Dorchester had a draft copy available for the members to examine. Because this presentation was complicated and lengthy, a decision was made to email a copy to each committee member. The Board of Supervisor members also would receive an email copy. HARB members will review and discuss the next steps that would be appropriate and necessary to proceed further in this undertaking.
In New Business, Rosemary reported on the dissolution of the Bartschi Foundation 's interest in Swiss Pines and the possible transfer of this site to Charlestown Township. The BOS is interested in this transfer but there are many legal and other aspects to consider.
The meeting was adjourned. Our next scheduled meeting is on Tuesday, July 19th.
