Standing Items

Minutes

Robinson made a motion to approve the October minutes, and Mount seconded. With no discussion or opposition, the minutes were approved.

Township Events Announcements

No upcoming events were announced. The calendar for next year is being developed.

Youth Sports Reports

Keith Maurer of the PASC notified the board that they are removing porta-potties from Charlestown Park after the sports season. The board decided against maintaining porta-potties during winter, following standard township practices.

Trails Report

The board discussed a bridge rescued from under a tree on the Pickering Trail. Plans were made to relocate the bridge in spring, potentially using it to bridge a low-lying area near the main bridge.

Charlestown Township Park and Brightside Farm Update

Robinson reported the footbridge in Charlestown Park was repaired, but the repair appears temporary. The board discussed thanking Township Manager Chris Heleniak for following up on the work and requesting notification of future maintenance.

EAC Updates

None

Scout Program Report

Robinson will update the Board of Supervisors on December 2nd. Additionally, a girl scout approached the board seeking a project, marking the first opportunity to use the program.

The board maintains a short list of needed projects to streamline the approval process for scout service projects.

Old Business

Trail and Park Kiosks

The Trail and Park Kiosks discussion was postponed to the December meeting.

New Business

Charlestown Day Recap

The event was successful despite rain. Summer event reports are being compiled for the annual report. There were complaints about the bees again this year, particularly from the bands.

PECO Green Region Grant

Potential grant opportunity for open space projects. The board discussed a potential for the Pickering Trail and Swiss Pines area.

Other Business

Regional Trails Committee

Dan Walker updated the board on the Regional Trails Committee, a regional group focused on making trails interconnected and working together to connect towns and trails. Discussions focused on potential trail interconnections, particularly with the Pickering Trail. Kulp expressed interest in being the board’s liaison to the Regional Trails Committee.

Wildlife Conservation

Andy Motel of the Planning Commission presented information about nest box installations:
