Westbound PA Turnpike to Close Sunday, November 17, Between Route 29 and Downingtown for Reconstruction in Chester County
November 8, 2024 – The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced today that the westbound Turnpike (I-76) will close Sunday for milling and paving under the Commission’s $214 million project to reconstruct the highway between mileposts 312 and 316 in Chester County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Sunday, November 17, from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., westbound I-76 will be closed between the Route 29 and Downingtown interchanges.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to exit at Route 29 (Exit 320), follow Route 29 south, U.S. 202 south, U.S. 30 west, then north on Route 100 to the Downingtown Interchange.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is widening and reconstructing four-plus miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from the Downingtown Interchange (Milepost 312) to the Valley Hill Road (Milepost 316) in Upper Uwchlan, Uwchlan, West Pikeland, and Charlestown Townships in Chester County.
